Garden Fortress have recently completed another garden office building with secret storage area. This build was in Kingston Upon Thames and sits on a 4m x 4m footprint.
The proposed site for the garden office was at the end of the client’s garden, on a slightly raised area of land. The clients wanted to create the biggest room possible so chose a 2.5m high design so that it could be positioned tightly to each of the three boundaries.
Because Garden Fortress construct their buildings from scratch on-site, it was easy for them to make full use of the confined space. If you watch the time-lapse video of the build, you can clearly see how they construct the whole wall section, including its external cladding and then lift it into place, tight to the boundary. This system means they don’t need space around the circumference of the building to fit the external finish.
The end of the garden where the garden office sits is sloping, so a step was incorporated into the decked veranda which runs along the front of the building.
The office area features a sliding door set, which floods the room with natural light. The interior of Garden Fortress garden offices is fully plastered and decorated creating the feel of a room in a new house. The office has a discreet electric panel heater, spotlights and brushed steel socket plates.
Garden Fortress have installed Wi-Fi enabled lighting and heating which allows the customer to control the interior and exterior lighting and the heating from their smartphone or tablet. This is a great system as you can turn the heating on before you take the commute to the to the garden office.
Alongside the office is a secret storage area which is accessed via a door on the front elevation which has been clad in Cedar to blend into the front walls cladding, making it virtually invisible.
The roof extends beyond the front wall to create a roof canopy which exterior downlights can be fitted in, to cast a nice light over the deck area.
This project took the Garden Fortress team 13 days to build from start to finish.
