Tax break for renting out a room

Executive Garden Rooms reminded us that the recent budget offered a nice tax break for homeowners who rent out a room.

This could be of interest to garden room buyers / owners who have a garden room that has been approved by both the Planning Department and Building Control as sleeping accommodation.

The new rule allows homeowners to rent out a room and earn up to £7,500 per annum without paying tax on it. This is a significant uplift from the previous threshold of £4,250 per year.

There is a good article on the Guardian website which explains in more detail.
