Outdoor offices are highly insulated, providing warmth in winter and staying cool in summer. While opening the doors for fresh air can be an easy way to cool the space, many choose to install air conditioning for precise temperature control. With an air conditioning unit, you can adjust the room's climate at the touch of a button, ensuring a comfortable workspace year-round.
As bespoke designers, Executive Garden Rooms will work closely with you to select the best heating and cooling options for your needs and preferences.
With this project, Executive Garden Rooms installed a Daikin air conditioning system with built-in Wi-Fi. This enables the owners to control the temperature remotely through an app on their phone, whether they're in the office or in the house. For example, on a hot day, they can switch on the air conditioning before leaving the house, arriving to a perfectly cooled office ready for the workday.
Air Conditioning in an Outdoor Office
The air conditioning systems designed for insulated outdoor offices typically comprise two components. The larger external unit is mounted on a bracket, usually at the side or back of the building. In this case, it has been discreetly placed on one of the side walls, as shown in the photos.
The smaller, internal unit is positioned high on one of the walls and blends in unobtrusively, ensuring that it doesn't dominate the room's design.
The Daikin system that Executive Garden Rooms use, includes a motion sensor, adding an energy-saving benefit. If you forget to switch off the unit when you leave, it will automatically power down, conserving both energy and money.
Garden Office Designed for Two
True to their bespoke approach, Executive Garden Rooms tailor every aspect of an office, from the building's size to its finishes. This particular outdoor office was designed to comfortably accommodate two people working side by side, with a generous footprint of 5.5m x 3.5m.
Externally, the building features low-maintenance Cedral cladding. Cedral is a cement fibreboard, coloured during manufacturing, which means it doesn't need painting to maintain its appearance and comes in a wide range of colours. The office also features anthracite grey uPVC doors and windows, which offer a sharp contrast to the lighter cladding.
A set of French doors, flanked by full-height fixed windows, provides an expanse of glazing that floods the room with natural light. Additionally, a top-hung window on the side wall offers an easy way to ventilate the office, allowing fresh air to circulate as needed.
Well-Specified Electrics
The interior boasts a plastered finish, fully decorated for a professional look, paired with a laminate wood floor. To complement these high-quality finishes, the office is equipped with comprehensive electrical installations.
The electrical setup includes LED downlights both inside and out, ample power sockets, data cabling for a reliable internet connection, and a smoke alarm. The Executive team also managed the connection of the office's electrics to the house mains, in full compliance with Part P of the Building Regulations.
