Garden office with Cedar front wall and Cedral on the hidden elevations
Published: 6 December 2022
The home office building by Executive Garden Rooms slots in at the end of the garden. It sits within three boundary fences. The front elevation has been clad in Western Red Cedar, with the three hidden elevations being finished in dark grey Cedral.
While there is space between the office building and the fences, which could be used to maintain the exterior cladding, the owners won't need to. The choice of Cedral cladding is an investment in a maintenance-free future.
Cedral is a cement fibre board that is pigmented during manufacture. It will maintain its new appearance in the long term without requiring painting.
As well as its low maintenance properties, Cedral has excellent fire resistance and is, therefore, a key component in Building Regulation compliant build-ups. Something that Executive Garden Rooms excel in.
As mentioned, the front elevation is clad in Western Red Cedar. This is also a low-maintenance cladding choice for a garden office. It can be left unprotected, and it will start to weather to a silvery grey colour. This colour change does not affect the durability but does alter the appearance of the building.
As we have seen with other Executive Garden Rooms Cedar clad projects, they apply UV oil to the boards as they are installed. This oil helps preserve the natural colour. UV oil does need topping up every few years - we use it here at Garden Room HQ, and it is an easy process.
4.5m x 2.9m garden office
As bespoke designers, Executive Garden Rooms will tailor the size of the building to suit your requirements and the space in your garden. In this case, the office is 4.5m wide by 2.9m deep.
Dark grey uPVC doors and windows look smart with the natural colouring of the Cedar. We like the door and window configuration that has been chosen. It has created the wide expanse of floor-to-ceiling glazing that is so popular in garden room design, with the benefit of having opening windows.
The door and windows feature integral blinds. These blinds fit discreetly between the panes of glass. This makes them a dust-free solution -yay!
Inside, Executive Garden Rooms finish their buildings to a high specification. A quality laminate floor is mixed with plastered and decorated walls and ceiling.
Executive Garden Rooms offer well-specified electrical packages. In this case, the specification includes plenty of double power sockets, a security light, LED downlights, a Cat6 data point and a smoke alarm.
The Executive Garden Rooms team completed the build in just two weeks on-site.
Their client is impressed with the process, as their testimonial indicates:
Just had my project completed by EGR, and it was an absolute pleasure to work with them.
The team on site were really well organised, there were no issues, no mess, and everything was communicated in great detail.
The quality of the build is very high, and it really will make a huge difference to my work going forward.
Would highly recommend giving them a shout.
