For creatives, having a dedicated space to work on projects without the need to clean up at day's end is invaluable. The luxury of a space tailored to your unique needs, allowing for custom glazing arrangements that provide perfect lighting and frame garden views, and offering storage for materials is truly a dream. With Executive Garden Rooms, this dream is attainable.
This 6m x 3m art and craft studio built by Executive Garden Rooms in Wareham, Dorset is an excellent example of a bespoke studio space. The building's size, glazing configuration, and finishes were all selected by the owner through the collaborative design process with Executive Garden Rooms.
Floor-to-ceiling glazing lets in lots of natural light
The floor-to-ceiling glazing floods the studio with natural light. The client wanted a workspace that had a real connection with the garden. To meet this, Executive Garden Rooms installed expansive glazing on the front elevation that wraps around to the left-hand side. This consists of French doors flanked by fixed pane windows with slim frames, which maximise the glazing area. An opening window in the corner allows for easy ventilation.
Black door and window frames, along with the roof trim, contrast elegantly with the light brown Cedral cladding. This cement fibre board is low-maintenance and maintains its new appearance over time, making it an excellent alternative to traditional timber cladding.
Attractive eaves detail
The extended roofline on the front and side elevations forms a deep eaves detail. As depicted, this lends a visual balance to the structure. This design element is especially recommended by Executive Garden Rooms for corner glazing configurations. These eaves not only protect from the elements but also provide shade during peak sun hours without obstructing it when it's low.
Complete with kitchen for washing brushes
The studio's interior boasts a plastered, decorated finish complemented by durable laminate flooring. A series of kitchen units were fitted, featuring a ceramic sink, ideal for cleaning brushes.
The studio is well-specified electrically, including LED downlights, plenty of power sockets, hardwired WiFi and external lighting. As part of their turnkey service, Executive Garden Rooms handles the electrical connection between the studio and the house and issues with the Part P certification.
Customer Feedback
Constructed by Executive Garden Rooms in just three weeks, the client raved about their new creative studio:
"Wow! We are so glad we found Alison and John at Executive Garden Rooms! We did our research but little did we know just what a good decision it was to choose them to build my studio. They are a dream team – fiercely well organised, brilliant communication and John’s workmanship and eye for detail is second to none. In fact, the same can be said for all of the people he used – electrician, roofer, plumber, groundsman and mastic man (didn’t know there was such a person!). All polite hard workers.
We could not be more delighted with the finished studio. The build quality is streets ahead of the competition and we consider the project excellent value for money. We recommend Alison and John wholeheartedly."
