This 7m x 4.5m multifunctional garden room has been built beside the main house, which is unusual. The way it was positioned at the house's side meant that it couldn't be built under the Permitted Development rules, so a planning application was needed. Executive Garden Rooms handled this process on their client's behalf, it's all part of the Executive turnkey service.
The layout and positioning of the building mean it can be accessed from both the front and back garden.
The building has been divided into three rooms - the main room designed as a gym / multifunctional space; there is also an entrance hall and a cloakroom. Working with a bespoke design firm like Executive Garden Rooms, you can choose the layout that works for you.
A building full of high-spec finishes
Low maintenance cladding
The garden room features several high-spec finishes. The exterior of the building is clad with Cedral, a low maintenance finish that has a lifespan of 50 years. The owners chose a soft green colour, but Cedral comes in a wide range of colours and has an attractive wood grain texture.
Aluminium bi-fold doors
Aluminium bi-fold doors were chosen for the main room. They will fold back to open the room up onto the garden. The glazing in the doors features magnetic blinds, which allow the owners to control the light and privacy in the room.
Velux roof light
One of the nicest features of this garden room is the large Velux roof window. The electronic system is controlled by remote control, and the window is fitted with rain sensors, so it will close itself if it starts to rain.
Air conditioning
A Dalkin, air conditioning system has been fitted. This offers both heating and cooling, so the owners can set their perfect working temperature all year round. The air con unit connects to a smartphone app to switch the system on and off remotely. The system also has motion sensors, so if there is no movement in the room, it will power down, saving energy - clever stuff!
The addition of a cloakroom futureproofs the building
Adding the cloakroom will enhance the usability of the garden room now, but it also futureproofs the building, opening up the potential for different uses in the future.
Some companies only create the shell of a cloakroom or shower room. They then leave you to organise the sanitaryware's fitting and connections to the mains supplies with another company. This is not the approach Executive Garden Rooms take; they handle the whole project for you, leaving you with a cloakroom that is ready to use.
The Executive Garden Rooms team had all the work signed off by the local Building Control department.
The owners of this lovely garden room had this to say about working with Executive Garden Rooms:
Excellent service, the build ran seamlessly. Build quality excellent. I now have my very own gym. John and Gavin were a delight, very respectful and very hard working. Alison in the office tirelessly project managed and liaised with us brilliantly. John came round after the project was over to put up a blind and fix my TV to the wall. I would definitely recommend this company. - K Read
