We have recently been introduced to the Slope Spaces range of garden rooms. We have to say; it is nice to see a company breaking away from the standard cube shape design. As their name suggests, Slope Spaces have a sloping roofline, and this allows for striking angled windows in the side walls.
Big Brother or Little Sister
Slope Spaces offer two standard sizes known as the Big Brother and Little Sister options. Both designs are 2.47m at their highest point, which makes them Permitted Development friendly.
The Big Brother option is 3.6m wide by 2.4m deep. The front elevation features a single entry door and picture window. Both side walls are fully glazed. The Slope Spaces team have designed a striking window configuration that accentuates the sloped roofline. Prices for the Big Brother start at £14,995.
The Little Sister design is 2.4m x 2.4m deep. The front elevation features a single fully glazed door. Like its Big Brother, this size also has glazed feature windows on the side elevations. Prices for the Little Sister start at £13,995
Exterior finishes
Black powder-coated aluminium frames have been chosen for the doors and windows, featuring Argon-filled double glazed units.
The glazing is mixed with vertical slatted cladding - you have the choice of timber cladding or recycled plastic cladding, which will require little maintenance.
The sloped roof is finished with EPDM. EPDM is a popular finish for garden room roofs. It is a rubber membrane that is fitted in one section to avoid leaks. EPDM has a long, maintenance-free lifespan.
Interior finishes
The Slope Spaces range is built with SIP's (Structurally Insulated Panel's). The plywood face of the SIP forms the internal lining of the room. We like the pared-back, slightly industrial look of this finish.
The foundation & electrics are not included in the price
The prices quoted on the Slope Spaces website are for the building, including VAT and installation. On top of this price, you will need to budget for the foundation.
Slope Spaces suggest either ground screws or a concrete slab for the base of their garden rooms. The Slope Spaces team can quote for ground screw foundation during your design consultation.
Unusually, the Slope Spaces range is not pre-wired with electrical sockets and lighting. This aspect is left for you to organise with a local electrician.
Typically when buying a garden room, the room is pre-wired with sockets & lights, and you then organise a local electrician to connect this system to the mains supply in your house.
With Slope Spaces, no electrical wiring is included in the price, so you will need to organise both the first and second fixes with a local electrician.
This does offer the opportunity to tailor the layout of sockets and lights to your specification, but it does mean you need to factor the cost into your budget.
Moveable garden room
The Slope Spaces range has been designed so that it can be dismantled and rebuilt. This is great if you move house and want to take your garden room with you.
Short lead & build times
The Slope Spaces range is available for installation throughout the UK. Lead times are typically 4 to 6 weeks from order, with on-site installation taking two days.
