Gembuild has recently taken on a series of particularly large-scale garden building commissions, so we thought we’d take a closer look to learn more about the buildings and what they’ll be used for.
This archive of articles looks at the work of Gembuild a long established garden room company. Gembuild offers several different styles of garden room including popular barn style buildings with tiled hipped roofs.
Gembuild have recently launched an extensive new website, which is easy to navigate and packed full of information for the garden room buyer.
Gembuild offer a number of different garden room solutions from traditional barn like garden rooms and offices, through quirky ‘glamping’ pods to larger accommodation units and classrooms.
The new website is divided into sections so you can quickly get to the style of building you are interested in, for instance under Commercial Buildings you will find information on the glamping pods and classrooms.
Gembuild have put together an extensive photo gallery of their many builds, and its interesting seeing the different styles of building they offer side by side.
Finally there is a detailed specification section, which not only lists the elements of the build but has images showing the cross section of the walls.
All in all the new Gembuild website is worth an explore! Take a look now at www.gembuild.co.uk
When it comes to garden rooms – black is the new cedar!
Gem Build have kindly sent though news of a couple of their recent garden room builds, and they look fantastic!
Gembuild have put more than 25 years experience into their range of garden offices, the extensive photo gallery above demonstrates the different styles of garden office they can create.
In a market full of contemporary cubes its super to see these traditional ‘ barn style’ garden offices and we particularly like the contrast of the dark feather edge cladding against the oak coloured UPVC windows.
Gembuild offer several ranges with different configurations of doors and windows, many designs feature a fully hipped roof which makes the buildings particularly attractive.
If you are looking for a garden office under 2.5m to fall in with Permitted Development rules Gembuild offer the 25 series which has all the Gembuild style but with a lower roof line.
Gembuild require a firm level base or a level crushed concrete base, they then lay a vegetation mat and damp proof membrane under pressure treated sleepers and treated joists which create a suspended floor. 100mm polystyrene insulation is fitted between the joists and chipboard forms a solid floor for carpet tiles.
The walls of the garden office are 170mm thick and are made up of a timber framework with 100mm insulation in between, the frame is sheathed in plywood which stops twisting and wrapped in a breather membrane, over this battens are fixed which take the feather edge cladding. Internally the walls are finished in vinyl finished plasterboard.
The pitched roof garden offices are finished in brown asphalt shingles whilst the 25 series has a EPDM roof covering. The roof contains 180mm of insulation and internally the ceiling is suspended and finished with vinyl finished plasterboard.
Gembuild garden offices are fully wired with plentiful power points and a choice of fluorescent lights or down lights, the system includes telephone point and external light.
Gembuild garden offices can be used as self contained accommodation units, Gembuild will install toilets, sinks etc in the garden office the soil and water pipes terminated outside the building for connection by a plumber.
Build time is generally 4-7 weeks with on site time between 2-7 days.
Gembuild garden offices are competitively priced, the 2.4m x 3.6m Faygate costs £7,935 plus VAT
