An artificial grass roof has many advantages over the installation of a “living green roof” being entirely maintenance free and less than half the price of a living sedum roof.
The lightweight self-draining nature of the artificial products that we use also means that installation on the roofs of our standard studios is possible without the additional and costly strengthening required to safely support the weight of sedum matting – up to 120 Kilos per square metre!
Although many clients express a desire for a living green roof (Partly to avoid any disquiet that close neighbours may have in suddenly looking down from upper windows onto a relatively large and intrusive expanse of black rubber) the increased expense more often than not proves prohibitive.
The lower cost multi-tonal artificial grass ranges that we install are very realistic, from a distance barely indistinguishable from the real thing, they will retain their colour being UV stabilised (To Quality Standard BIN53387) and will last for the lifetime of your high specification garden studio, well worth thinking about in our opinion ……..especially when it is free!
