Based in the Midlands, Cosy Garden Rooms designs and builds insulated outdoor rooms for clients across the country. Where many competitors customise their standard designs, the Cosy Garden Rooms team believes in a personalised touch. Each room they build is custom-made, and designed around the requirements of the client and the unique characteristics of their garden.
As evidenced by the photos within this article, their tailored approach ensures that no two Cosy Garden Rooms are identical. Whether you envision a room bathed in light through large expanses of glazing or want to create an indoor-outdoor lifestyle with covered outdoor seating, they'll turn your vision into reality.
Cosy Garden Rooms offers clients a turnkey service. They oversee the entire project from the preliminary ground clearance to the finishing decorative touches. This comprehensive service includes installing the foundation and they can include the final electrical connection between your garden room and your home.
Concrete slab foundation
As part of their turnkey service, Cosy Garden Rooms installs a solid concrete slab foundation. They favour this traditional foundation system over alternatives such as ground screws or pad foundations because it provides solid support across the building's footprint.
On top of this slab, foil-faced rigid insulation and an OSB subfloor are laid, forming an ideal base for the final flooring. This build-up means that rooms by Cosy Garden Rooms offer a more generous ceiling height compared to designs with timber floor frames. An added advantage of the concrete slab foundation is its ability to deter vermin from sneaking in beneath the floor structure.
Multi-layer structure
While many other garden room ranges merely feature external cladding on top of the insulated framework followed by an internal lining, the Cosy Garden Rooms team has incorporated additional protective layers in their designs.
Their insulated timber framework is strengthened with OSB boards, fixed at regular intervals into the framework. This reinforcement, often skipped by others to save on costs and time, provides enhanced break-in protection. Additionally, it strengthens the timber framework and prevents twisting. A moisture-resistant breather membrane envelopes the OSB, on top of which the external cladding is fixed. Customers have an array of low-maintenance cladding finishes to select from, including options like Western Red Cedar and Hardie Plank cement board cladding.
Internally, rooms are lined with grooved-profile MDF boards. As part of their installation service, the Cosy Garden Rooms team paints the walls in a colour of your choice. As the photos show, this creates a stylish interior space.
The amalgamation of these material layers, paired with the foil-faced PIR insulation in walls and floor, Rockwool within the roof structure, and double-glazed doors and windows, creates a space that is comfortable to use throughout the year.
