Sanctum Garden Studios have recently added the option of a sedum roof to their Contemporary range.
One of the first buildings to incorporate this feature is a 3m x 3m Contemporary Studio built in the beautiful village of Tintern.
Actually the inclusion of the sedum roof was a condition of the Planning Permission approval for this building.
The clients Paul & Vivien contacted the Sanctum Garden Studios team back in November last year. The garden studio was part of a larger landscaping project and the construction of the garden studio had to fit into a tight schedule. The Sanctum had a specific window in April. Luckily the weather was on their side and the studio fully built in just two days.
The main challenge Sanctum had on this project was the access – they had two options via a small gate positioned in an ancient monument which couldn’t be touched or via a 6ft embankment wall – this was chosen as the lesser of two evils!
This studio features a cubed roof line rather than having an eaves detail which creates a modern look.
The interior has a plasterboard interior which is ready for a local plasterer to finish. Underfloor heating was also included so the room should be very snug on the coldest days of the year.
We think that the sedum roof option is a great addition to the Sanctum Garden Studios offering. To learn more about this call the team on 01275 279 161 or visit their website to see more of their work.
