The pandemic has changed the way many of us work, with working from home part of the week or full time becoming the norm.
There are many benefits to working from home, losing commuting time being one of the most prominent. There are downsides too, such as the blurring of lines between work and family time and missing that feeling of going out to work; and coming home at the end of the day.
While they have always been popular with home workers, the last couple of years have seen a boom in demand for garden offices. This is because they offer you all the benefits of working from home while giving you the feeling of leaving the house each day. Also, because you can close the door on work at the end of the day, there is a clear distinction between work and family time.
Cost-effective garden office solutions
If you have started to explore your garden office options, you will have seen that there are some eye-wateringly expensive ranges! There are also some great options costing less than £8,000.
Your best option at this price point is the 2.4m x 2.4m Hampton by Sanctum Garden Studios. It costs £7,995 plus a modest delivery charge based on where you are in relation to Sanctum HQ. It is a comfortable size for one person to work, and the feature wall of glazing offers a great connection with the garden as you work.
If you have a slightly bigger budget, you should also check out the QuadPod range that Sanctum Garden Studios offers. Starting at £10,995 including delivery, the well-specified design includes low maintenance Cedar cladding.
If you are looking for a bigger garden office or want more control over the positioning of the doors and windows, then you should explore Sanctum Garden Studio Contemporary range. This range is also well priced, with a 2.4m x 2.4m building starting at £13,995.
The Hampton
The Hampton Range is one of the best-priced garden office options on the market. It comes in two sizes: 2.4m x 2.4m and 3m x 2.4m. Both sizes have an overall height of less than 2.5m, so you have maximum flexibility in positioning it under the Permitted Development rules.
The Hampton is fully insulated and double glazed for comfortable year-round use. It comes pre-wired electrically with lights and power points, so once they are connected to the mains supply in your house, you can plug in your computer and start work.
Hampton Price Guide
- 2.4m x 2.4m - £7,995 plus delivery
- 3m x 2.4m - £8,995 plus delivery
The Hampton comes in two styles: Grey and Stone. The Hampton Grey has a contemporary style, while the Hampton Stone is more classic in appearance. With both colourways, you have the option of adding Cedar panels to one or both side walls, which we think looks great!
Inside the Hampton, the walls are MDF, which is left bare for you to make your mark on the colour. The MDF takes paint easily, or you could make a splash with a feature wall of wallpaper.
To complete the room, there is the option to add a durable laminate floor with white skirting boards.
The QuadPod
If you are looking for a greater range of sizes, you might like to check out the Sanctum Garden Studios QuadPod range. The QuadPod comes in four sizes, the smallest of which is the QuadPod Micro at 2.4m x 1.8m.
QuadPod Price Guide
- Micro 2.4m x 1.8m - £10,995
- Mini 2.4m x 2.4m - £11,995
- Maxi 3m x 2.4m - £12,995
- Super Maxi 3.6m x 2.4m - £13,995
All buildings in the QuadPod range are less than 2.5m high, so you have maximum flexibility when positioning the structure under the Permitted Development rules.
The QuadPod range comes in two styles, the Office and the Studio. The Office style has a window perfectly positioned at desk height. The Studio style with its sizeable full-height window would make an equally comfortable home office, particularly if you like a good view of your garden as you work!
The QuadPod range features Cedar cladding on the front and door wall and dark grey weatherboard on the other two elevations. Both cladding finishes require little maintenance in the long term.
Inside, the MDF walls of the QuadPod are left bare for you to finish with your choice of colour. The floor is a durable laminate and finished with white skirting boards.
Installed in 1 or 2 days!
The Sanctum Garden Studios team can install the Hampton in just a day. The QuadPod range is completed in two days on site.
Both ranges come complete with their own foundation system, so the build is a streamlined, hassle-free process.
