Garden studio with an industrial vibe
Published: 28 March 2023
This recent project by Sanctum Garden Studios has caught our attention because of its pared-back style. Rather than opt for white walls and ceiling that create a room akin to that in a new house, the owners asked for them to be lined with MDF.
The soft colouring of the bare MDF, enhanced by the lines of the small gaps between the boards, creates the industrial vibe that the owner wanted. Their choice of furniture completes the look.
A customised version of the contemporary cubed range
The studio sits on a footprint of 4.2m x 3m and is an example of Sanctum Garden Studios Contemporary Cubed range. The Sanctum Garden Studios team tweaked the standard Contemporary range specification to achieve their client's vision.
As we have already seen, they swapped the usual interior options for MDF. With the Contemporary range, customers usually choose between a white wall panel finish or the option of a plastered interior.
Sanctum Garden Studios' client also asked for a different exterior cladding profile. The Contemporary range features vertical tongue and groove Western Red Cedar cladding as standard. In this case, the Cedar was fixed horizontally with shadow gaps between the boards.
As we can see, the bi-fold doors fold to one side to create a lovely connection between indoor and outdoor space.
