We are advocates that the best people to talk about garden rooms are the people who buy them and use them daily, we chat with Tracey Walker about her experience of buying and using a Booths Garden Studio:
When did you buy your garden room, office or studio?
What were your requirements for your garden room, office or studio?
- not to look like a garden shed
- nice comfortable space in which to work
- to blend into the garden
- to be discreet
Did you look at other sorts of home extension before settling on a garden room? Why did you choose a garden room over other type of extension?
The only other option would have been a conservatory but this was outside our budget plus I like the fact that the garden room is detached from the house so it feels like I’m going to work.
What made you choose your garden room, office or studio supplier?
Good detailed website
All inclusive no extra set up fees or DIY jobs
Does your garden room, office, studio fulfil its intended use?
Is your garden room, office, studio comfortable to use all year round?
Yes. I have a heater in the winter and a fan in the summer. I chose not to have air conditioning purely because the budget did not stretch that far.
Do you have heating or cooling systems, were they supplied with your building or did you add them at a later date?
They were available but my budget was limited
How long did your garden room, office or studio take to build on site, was it straight forward?
One day. Extremely straight forward
Would you have done anything different ie specified different materials, altered the design etc?
Do you have to do much maintenance on your garden room, office or studio?
None apart from regular housekeeping
If you could give a prospective customer a piece of advice what would it be?
Go and view some existing buildings – we did and it was most useful.
