This super garden room in Irvine is by Aroha Escapes. It is a bespoke design that has been tailored around the space available in the garden.
Sitting in a corner of the garden, the building is tapered to maximise the space available. The front wall is 5 meters wide, while the back wall is 3.5 meters wide. While this creates an irregular shaped room, we can see from these images that a highly functional living space has been created.
Garden sitting room
Aroha Escapes have created a super sitting room in the garden. It is a great space to sit and enjoy the garden. The five panel set of aluminium bi-fold doors fold back to open the room up onto the garden.
It is also a great space for watching a film. The Aroha Escapes team incorporated Sky TV and internet cabling into the garden room, so they can reliably stream movies and TV shows. The customer reports a better signal in the garden room than in the house!
The room has the feeling of a room in a new build house, with its plastered and decorated walls and ceiling and laminated wood floor.
Shaped Millboard decking
The bi-fold doors open up onto a Millboard deck. Millboard is a high spec composite decking material which offers a nice texture, maintains its colour and is highly resistant to algae growth, so doesn't become slippery.
We like how Arhoa Escapes have shaped the deck, rather than just adding a straight veranda in front of the doors. The curved detail incorporating a shallow step creates a welcoming entrance into the room.
Low maintenance external finishes
In addition to the Millboard decking, the other external finishes have been chosen to be low maintenance and hard-wearing. The bi-fold doors are a high-spec Athractire grey aluminium finish.
The external cladding is Cedral, a cement fibre board which has a wood grain texture but does not require painting to maintain its appearance. Aroha Escapes customer has chosen the Pearl finish, which looks great alongside the darker greys of the doors and decking.
