We recently posted an article looking at a highly insulated garden office built by Executive Garden Rooms. In the article, we commented that the insulation used in the walls was one of the thickest we have seen.
As bespoke garden room designers, Executive Garden Rooms will work out the insulation levels for each building on a case by case basis. This is a good standpoint as different size garden rooms will have different requirements and design features like large expanses of glazing will have a significant impact on a building’s thermal performance.
The Executive Garden Rooms team make use of PIR insulation. This is a foil lined rigid sheet which can be tightly fitted between the timber framework which Executive use for their core structure. The Executive team recently took a short video that clearly shows the insulation fitted between the timber frame:
In this garden room, the concrete slab floor has 90mm of rigid insulation within it. The walls have an impressive 140mm of PIR insulation in their multilayer build-up. The roof of this building features 100mm of rigid insulation as part of a warm roof construction.
