If you are looking a garden room that combines eco credentials with a unique design then look no further than the new range by Eco Hubb.
In design terms the Eco Hubb stands out from the crowd thanks to its curved design, we like the fact that the curved lines of the exterior are replicated inside (many curved roof designs are squared off inside) and this gives the building a unique feel.
Eco Hubb have developed their own building system with an eye for ecological design. The pods are built in Eco Hubb’s Cornish workshops by skilled craftsmen who aim to achieve a millimeter perfect finish. The custom design timber framework is made from wood from sustainable sources and infilled with eco friendly UK Hemp insulation, if you would prefer using sheep’s wool or recycled plastic bottle insulation this can easily be designed in.
The Eco Hubb has a durable EPDM roof covering which has a life span of 25 plus years and the distinctive cladding is Cornish Larch, which being a local product has low embodied energy values. The French doors and full length side lights are custom built for the pods and double glazed, this combined with the insulation in the structure ensures a comfortable environment to spend time all year round. Eco Hubb have designed the pod to be highly insulated and as air tight as possible, so it exceeds the Building Regulations for new houses.
Because of the insulation and air tightness Eco Hubb say that the pod wont require any extra heat source, body heat should be enough, but do offer bio-ethanol burners and wood stoves, along with underfloor heating for those really cold winter days.
If you would like your garden room to be off grid then Eco Hubb offer the option of photovoltaic solar panels, this will supply the electrics for your garden room and any surplus power generated can be sold back to the grid – free power and then payment for having it, can’t be bad!
Eco Hubbs can be totally automated if you like, with the option of a Smart Hubb a touch screen system that can control the lights, music blinds etc – a garden room with gadgets, bliss!
The interior decoration can be finished in any colour you like, we think the timber cladding on the curved walls / roof is an attractive feature that shows off the design of the garden room brilliantly.
Eco Hubbs take around three weeks to build in the workshop and just two days to construct on site, this means you could be using your new garden room in just a month or so!
The Eco Hubb shown here is 4.6m x 3.75m and 2.5m high meaning its Planning Permission friendly, at £14,995 it seems a good buy for this combination of unique design and eco specification – we will look at the specification of the Eco Hubb in greater detail next week.
