I look at a lot of garden studios as I edit this website, and sometimes think there is not much to differentiate one supplier from another but then you happen upon a photo which stops you in your tracks – like this photo of a contemporary garden office by The Studio Company. You could be forgiven for thinking I’ve gone mad it’s just a photo of a floor and window section but as a garden studio designer myself it says much more – it says attention to detail.
Its common place in contemporary garden studio design to have whole walls of glazing but few achieve this visual flow of indoor / outdoor space as their glazing units have bottom rails/sills which break the eye line. What The Studio Company have done here is design their glazing to slot between the internal floor and exterior decking, the same happens at the top of the window where the glass looks like it flows into the ceiling – this attention to detail takes a clever designer and good craftsmen to execute well and The Studio Company clearly have both!
The Studio Company offer three standard floor plans from 3m x 3m to 5m x 4m and a bespoke design service where the garden studios are designed to your individual needs and tastes and can include features such as shower rooms, toilets and kitchen areas.
The Studio Company offer a complete turnkey solution where everything is included in the price you are quoted, from foundation to decoration to connection of the electrics to the main house meaning you are dealing with only one company during the project.
All garden studios are constructed with Structural Insulated Panel’s (SIP’s) which offer excellent insulative values and are also quick and precise to install, the studios are clad in cedar which is a very durable external cladding and requires little maintenance over its long life. If you require a different look for your garden studio The Studio Company can render and paint the exterior.
The flat roofs are covered in EPDM, a rubber membrane which is extremely durable with a life expectancy well in excess of 25 years and is normally fitted in one sheet so no chance of leaking joints. All studios incorporate guttering and downpipes for rainwater collection.
The Studio Company include aluminium powder coated bifold doors as standard on their garden studios – often an optional extra on other makes of garden studio. All doors and windows are double glazed.
Internally The Studio Company’s garden studios have the feeling of a well appointed room in the house with fully skimmed walls and ceiling and oak floor and skirting boards.
Garden studios come pre wired with a consumer unit /fuse box and chrome halogen ceiling lights and plenty of double sockets all fitted with quality face plates – no white plastic here! Unlike many garden studio suppliers The Studio Company include the connection of the garden studios electrics to the main house supply in their price.
Prices start at £10,950 plus VAT for a 3m x 3m garden studio and onsite installation takes around 2 weeks.
