Irregular shaped garden room

In our last post, we talked about a triangular shaped garden room that makes full use of an unusual shaped plot. Today we thought it would be interesting to see how another bespoke garden room designer approaches irregular shaped plots.

Harrison James were approached by customers in Surrey who wanted to create a garden room that maximised the area of their garden they had available. As bespoke garden room designers Harrison James tailor makes every garden room for each customer, so designing around site issues is not too much of a problem.

To make full use of the space available, the Harrison James team designed an irregular shaped garden room. The rear wall is 4 meters wide; the left wall has a depth of 3 meters while the right wall has a depth of 4 meters. This means the front wall tapers between the two side walls with a span of 3.9 meters.

The two visible elevations are clad in the popular Western Red Cedar in a tongue & groove profile. The non-visible walls are clad in a more cost effective pressure treated cladding, again in a tongue and groove profile. This cladding offers the same durability, but doesn’t have such aesthetic appeal, but as these walls won’t be seen, it’s not an issue. This is a clever trick when building close to the boundaries of your garden.

As you can see the room is flooded with natural light thanks to the large expanses of glazing on two walls. On the front elevation, bi-fold doors fold back to create a real connection with the lovely garden. The connection with the garden is accentuated with the floor to ceiling windows on the side elevation.

The interior is finished to a high specification, with fully plastered and decorated walls and ceiling. The electrical package includes LED down-lights and satin chrome sockets.

Harrison James supplied this building on a turnkey basis, which involved the initial site clearance, groundworks and installation of the building right through to the electrical connection. The project cost around £24,000 which is very reasonable for this specification and tailor made design.
