The team at Building With Frames have a lot of experience creating holiday pods. We recently wrote about a complex of ten luxury holiday pods they had created in Cornwall. They have now started work on another exciting project, comprising of five pods which will create an upgraded camping experience.
Building With Frames are specialists in off-site construction methods. They create their buildings, be they a home office or holiday pod, in their workshops. This allows them to be installed quickly once they arrive on-site.
Following this pattern, the Building With Frames team is currently creating the parts for the pods in their Cornwall workshops. This involves creating the insulated timber wall panels and the SIP’s (structural insulated panels) roof. They will also prepare the cladding for the exterior of the buildings.
The prefabricated parts will then be delivered to site as a kit for quick assembly. The Building With Frames team will be on-site throughout the build.
Five buildings joined with a curved roof
Building With Frames clients have a beautiful if challenging site in the Quantocks. They have received a grant for the building which they want to have a rustic appeal but built using the latest building methods. Building With Frames worked closely with their clients to create a design that would maximise the budget and overcome the challenging site.
Five buildings will form dormitories and bathrooms. They will be connected together with a curved roof structure.
The highly insulated core structure will sit on screw pile foundations. These will be installed before the core structure arrives on-site. Screw piles can be installed with minimal soil disruption and overcome the tricky site which has banked terracing.
The front and side elevations of the pods will be clad in timber cladding. The rear elevation will be clad with a wavy cement board. We have seen this combination before, and it looks great! The double glazed windows will be fitted with rustic shutters. The interior of the pods will be finished with timber cladding, continuing the rustic feel.
We will follow up on this interesting project as it progresses. So, watch this space!
