Today, in our inbox, we have had people asking us about the smallest possible garden room sizes, and someone looking to build a 10m x 5m building. Luckily, garden rooms come in all sizes, so there is a suitable sized building for every garden and intended use.
Standard Sizes
Some companies offer their buildings in standard sizes only. They have chosen popular dimensions such as 2.4m x 2.4m, 3m x 2.4m, 3m x 3m and 5m x 3m.
Incremental Modular Sizes
If you choose to work with a modular garden room company, you will have more flexibility in size. For instance, Smart Modular Buildings offer their modular designs in 60+ sizes, from 2.1m x 2.1m upwards.
Modular garden rooms tend to be available in 500mm increments, for instance, 2.5m, 3m, 3.5m etc. The maximum width we have seen for modular designs is 10m, while the maximum depth we have seen is 5m. You will find that once you get around 6 or 7 meters wide, the depth options reduce. When you are looking at modular garden rooms 10m wide, you will be limited to depths of around 3.5m
External or Internal Measurements
When comparing your garden room options, be aware that some companies quote their sizes as the internal measurement, while others list the external measurement.
With the internal measurements, you get a clear idea of how much useable space you will have in the room. However, with wall thicknesses varying from company to company, you would have to ask them for the external measurements, as they don't tend to mention the wall thicknesses on their websites.
Bespoke Sizes - Made to the Millimeter
To maximise the space you have available, you may find that you need something more made to measure. Bespoke designers will design you a garden room to the nearest millimetre.
While bespoke garden rooms tend to be more expensive than standard size and modular designs, they are not that much more costly, and you will end up with a tailor-made space that maximises the space you have available.
