Crusoe Garden Rooms Limited is a long-established company that works throughout the UK. A key feature of their work is tailoring their designs to meet the unique requirements of each client. This is evident in the many articles we have written about their work.
A recent project in Derbyshire is a fine example of their approach. The clients wanted to extend the usability of their lovely garden with an insulated garden room that could be comfortably used year-round. They chose an 8m x 4m building and worked with the Crusoe team to configure the layout and specifications.
A corner configuration of bi-fold doors allows for views of the garden and, when open, facilitates easy movement between indoor and outdoor spaces. The doors have low thresholds, ensuring unobstructed passage from the decked area into the room. A fully glazed single door is positioned further along the front elevation for everyday use. A tall window with an opening top section completes the glazing configuration. High-spec powder-coated aluminium doors and windows have been used, finished in Anthracite Grey, which offers a stylish contrast to the Western Red Cedar cladding.
Crusoe Fusion Exterior
Crusoe's clients chose the Crusoe Fusion exterior cladding option. With Crusoe Fusion, you have the option of mixing Western Red Cedar cladding with exterior plywood panels stained to match the door and window frames. Using Western Red Cedar on the most prominent elevations and stained plywood on the less visible walls is a durable combination that saves a significant amount compared to using Cedar on all walls. It looks stylish too, as this photo demonstrates.
By choosing the Crusoe Fusion option, the clients were able to maximise their budget elsewhere in the build, selecting aluminium bi-fold doors and a composite deck that wraps around the garden room.
High-Quality Interior
Inside, Crusoe Garden Rooms Limited finish their buildings to a high standard, with plastered and decorated walls and ceiling. Their client, who is an electrician, wanted to handle the electrics himself and also lay the flooring. The Crusoe team was happy to accommodate these requests into their workflow.
Looking through the doors into the room, you can see that partition walls have been added to create a storage room in the corner.
Crusoe Garden Rooms Limited completed this large garden room in three weeks on site, including the installation of a ground screw foundation.
5 Star Customer Review
Crusoe's clients left a detailed review on Google about their experience choosing Crusoe Garden Rooms Limited and working with them:
Our requirement was for a multi purpose garden room which could be utilised half as home office area and half as a relaxing garden room space . In order to achieve a base starting price for the project I drew a basic plan of the building showing the outline detail for the size of the room and locations of windows / doors / finishes. We then submitted this to a number of companies for base price offers .
The response was varied with some companies only offering their standard product which did not meet the requirements and a range of costs from the base price expected to nearly double the cost. The scope of works was for the full internal and external build excluding electrics and flooring finish.
From the information received we short listed 3No companies who had quoted to the requirements detailed and offered to discuss the requirements to tailor to our bespoke needs. From the subsequent telephone conversation with Trevor we chose Crusoe Garden Rooms to have a face to face meeting. He gave us a real feeling of confidence in him during our telephone conversation with his professional manner and “can do approach” to work together to achieve the required garden room design. The Crusoe product is fully customisable due to it being built from scratch on site, something we struggled to find with anyone else within the budget we had.
During the meeting Trevor was very knowledgable and helpful with his advice and at the end of the meeting we had agreed on a design which both met our functional requirements and which we agreed would blend in with the garden where it was to be located. I altered the plans to reflect our discussions and submitted to Trevor who returned within 2days with a fully itemised fixed price and a build date if we accepted .
We instructed Crusoe Garden Rooms to carry out the build and agreed the commencement date and planned duration. Trevor kept us informed of progress and the guys started on the agreed date with the build. Throughout the 2week build process the guys were very tidy and professional plus they liaised closely at all stages of the build process to ensure our requirements were being met. They also took additional measures to protect the existing garden area whilst building as typically, the weather was a little less than fine and sunny whilst happening in April.
The building was completed on time to a professional standard throughout and to our bespoke requirements. I would recommend the Crusoe garden room team as a partner for your garden room project and even more so if you have some individual requirements to personalise your garden room. We are delighted with the garden room and give many thanks to Trevor and the team for a fabulous job which has totally exceeded our expectation.
