A 5.4m x 3m VIP Match Day Suite at Chorley FC by Sanctum Garden Studios

Sanctum Garden Studios manufacture their buildings at their Chorley workshop, so this one did not travel far. Chorley FC's commercial director came to them for a VIP suite: a pitch-side room for match day hospitality, seating up to ten guests with food and drink served, warm enough to use through a winter fixture and useful to the club on the days when there is no game.
The building is a bespoke example of their Contemporary Overhang range, 5.4m x 3m with a 2m overhang. It shows two things at once — that these buildings work as well for commercial use as they do in a garden, and how far the specification can be tailored when a client has something specific in mind.
A Palette Matched to the Club
Sanctum Garden Studios usually finish their weatherboard and door frames in Anthracite Grey. Here the palette changed to black to match the club colours, which is the sort of adjustment that makes a building belong to the club rather than sit on its ground.
The front elevation is clad in Western Red Cedar, and it does the heavy lifting on the look of the suite. The warm, varied grain against the black gives the rich finish the brief asked for, and it reads well from across the pitch.
Sliding Doors Overlooking the Pitch
The front wall is given over to centre meeting sliding doors with sidelights, so the view of the pitch runs the full width of the room. Guests watching from inside the insulated suite see the game as clearly as those on the terrace.
The doors slide back to open the wall out onto the deck. Movement between the two is easy, which matters at a crucial point in the match, or for mingling at half time.
A 2m Canopy Over the Decking
The decked veranda is finished in a composite board, low-maintenance and sure-footed in the rain, and it sits raised for a clear view over the pitch. The overhang roofline extends 2m beyond the front wall to cover it, and that depth is enough to keep guests seated outside dry, or shaded in hot weather. The veranda is usable at every fixture rather than just the dry ones.
A Room That Earns Its Keep Between Matches
Behind the glass, the walls and roof are insulated for year-round use, holding heat through a winter fixture and keeping the room from overheating in August. That specification is what lets the club use the suite as a meeting room and office space through the rest of the week, and out of season, rather than only on match days.
Sanctum Garden Studios completed the on-site phase in two days, the usual pattern for the Contemporary range. The result is a VIP suite the club has booked out for every match.
