Garden YouTube Studio

Miniature Manors were approached by a social media influencer looking to create a high-spec garden studio tailored for filming YouTube content. Their client, a skilled joiner who shares practical tips and tutorials with a growing online audience, needed more than just a stylish space—lighting, layout and usability were all critical in achieving the right environment for content creation.
As a skilled joiner, the client will likely have recognised Miniature Manors’ attention to detail and appreciated their flexible, bespoke approach—designing around each client’s needs rather than working within a fixed set of options.
A Purpose-Built Space for Filming Joinery Tutorials
At the heart of the brief was the need for excellent natural light and a layout that supports fast, fuss-free filming. With a footprint of 6.5m x 3.5m, the building features a full-height fixed window and a set of 1.6m x 2.46m uPVC French doors, together flooding the studio with daylight.
Internally, the studio is lined with painted OSB, chosen not just for its durability but for its practicality—allowing tools, materials, and wall-mounted storage to be fixed directly where needed. The robust LVT flooring is equally practical, offering a tough surface that stands up to the daily demands of a working workshop.
Pitched Roof Design
The pitched roofline reaches 3.5m at the ridge, adding more interior height than a typical 2.5m garden room. This not only enhances the sense of space but plays a vital role in supporting the technical setup. The generous ceiling height allows lighting rigs and camera mounts to be optimally positioned and left in place between shoots. The owner can simply walk in, switch on, and start recording—no need to reset equipment each time. It's a workspace engineered for efficiency as well as style.
A Distinctive Exterior with Contemporary Character
Externally, the studio strikes a confident balance between modern and natural materials. Dark grey corrugated steel clads the roof and side elevations, contrasted by a Thermowood-clad front that adds warmth and texture. This combination is becoming increasingly popular with Miniature Manors clients, appreciated both for its bold aesthetics and low-maintenance appeal.
We’re particularly taken with the way the Thermowood-clad front wall is slightly recessed, creating depth and a defined frame around the French doors. What’s especially eye-catching is how the perimeter wall and roof frame have been detailed to flow seamlessly into one another, with the intersection of the steel fascias and inner Thermowood cheek panels carefully detailed. Combined with the softwood step leading into the studio, it’s a smart pairing of textures that reflects a high level of design consideration.
Tailored Design, Delivered on Time & Budget
This garden studio is a fine example of how a bespoke approach can deliver a professional-grade workspace that feels considered in every detail.
I had a very clear idea of how my garden room should look. Richard and his team from Miniature Manors interpreted my design exactly as drawn. The whole build was expertly delivered on time and to budget. I highly recommend this company.”
