Acoustic Garden Studio with Secret Storage Room

Garden Spaces has designed numerous acoustic studios, but this is the first model we've featured with an integrated storage room. Combining two functions under one roof maximises outdoor space effectively. As the photos show, Garden Spaces has seamlessly unified the studio and storage room into a stylish, cohesive structure.
Thoughtfully Designed Layout
This garden studio has an external footprint of 6.5m x 4.45m, offering a 17.8 sqm soundproofed studio space and a 5.2 sqm storage room.
While many companies offer soundproof garden studios, Garden Spaces stands out for its commitment to high acoustic standards. They provide various acoustic configurations, allowing customers to choose the best specification for their needs.
Advanced Multi-Layer Acoustic Structure
Built with a core of structural insulated panels (SIPs), Garden Spaces enhances the walls and ceiling with metal furring strips, secured with rubber decouplers. The walls then feature a multi-layered acoustic system: an initial layer of acoustic plasterboard, followed by an acoustic rubber membrane, and capped with a second layer of acoustic plasterboard.
The room is plastered and decorated, creating a bright, spacious area, as shown in the photos.
The floor structure also benefits from acoustic upgrades, including a three-layer acoustic underlay mat, laminate flooring, and a perimeter flanking band for added soundproofing. Since the studio has no windows, a specialist acoustic vent has been installed to provide natural ventilation without affecting soundproofing.
Surface-Mounted Electrics
To minimise sound leakage, Garden Spaces has opted for surface-mounted electrics, keeping lighting and switches outside of wall recesses. The studio is also equipped with air conditioning, ensuring year-round comfort.
Innovative Acoustic Porch
Setting Garden Spaces apart is the option to add an acoustic porch, a feature that significantly boosts soundproofing. The porch includes an aluminium door with acoustic glazing, paired with a solid wood FD30 acoustic door with dropdown seals, threshold seals, and perimeter seals.
The soundproof porch fits neatly within the roof canopy and decked step, adding to the studio’s aesthetic.
The Storeroom Has a Different Specification
While the studio is designed with multi-layered materials, the storage room has a simpler finish.
The OSB surface of the SIP panels remains exposed, providing a durable and practical finish for storage. Lighting and electrical outlets have also been fitted in the storeroom for convenience.
Thermowood Cladding
The exterior of the garden room features Thermowood cladding. This treated softwood is highly durable, making it ideal for outdoor use. Naturally, Thermowood has a honey-brown hue with a distinctive grain pattern. In this instance, Garden Spaces’ client chose an ebony stain, which adds depth and enhances durability with its natural oil base.
