3d printed garden room

This is a first for The Garden Room Guide, writing about a 3d printed garden room design. The 3d printer uses a graphene-enhanced cement-free product called Cementene™. Cementene™ is a more sustainable product than cement based alternatives. The addition of graphene increases the strength of the concrete. The Versarien Lunar range is printed in modules and delivered to site for assembly onto a pre-prepared concrete base.

This quick video shows the 3d printer at work:

The Lunar garden room range has a futuristic aesthetic. The layers of the cement create a ribbed finish that looks good both inside and out. If you wanted a different colour, the walls take paint well, but the natural grey finish looks smart with the dark grey door frames and roof trims.

As we can see, the wall modules have an attractive curved profile externally, while inside, the walls are straight, creating a functional interior space.

Inside the Versarien Lunar 3d printed garden room

The standard Lunar model is 4.4m wide x 2.8m deep and 2.6m high, so if you wanted to position it within 2m of a boundary, you would have to apply for planning approval. The Versarien team told us that the design is flexible if you wanted a different size, but any change would be reflected in the final price.

The Lunar is delivered to site in modules and is assembled onto a pre-prepared concrete slab foundation. The floor and roof sections are constructed from structural insulated panels (SIPs). The floor section sits on specially designed toes built into the 3d printing of the walls.

The doors and windows are high-spec triple-glazed units with aluminium frames. The fascia of the roof structure, colour matched with the door frames.

Other features of the Versarien Lunar include:

  • Energy-efficient LED lighting
  • Digitally controlled heating
  • Power sockets with USB charging points

If you would like to see a Lunar garden room up close before you buy, you can book an appointment to visit the show building in Gloucester. Email lunar@versarien.co.uk to arrange a time.

The Versarien Lunar is sold with a 10-year warranty and has a lifespan of 30+ years. The 4.4m wide x 2.8m deep and 2.6m high model shown here starts at £29,900 ex-works. Lead times from order are currently 2-3 months. You can book your slot in their order book here.
