Riverside Garden Office Designed for Two Ways of Working

This 5.42m x 2.8m garden office by Timber Rooms has been cleverly designed to offer both collaborative and private working spaces. Internally, the building is divided down the middle, with an internal bi-fold door that can be opened to create a shared coworking environment or closed to provide two self-contained work zones. This flexible arrangement allows each person to make their mark on their side of the office while still working as part of a cohesive whole.
Low-Maintenance Contemporary Design
The exterior features dark grey composite cladding fitted horizontally for a crisp, modern look. Unlike timber cladding, which requires periodic staining or oiling to maintain its appearance, composite is virtually maintenance-free. It will not rot or warp and retains its colour for many years, helping the building continue to look fresh with minimal upkeep. A roof overhang creates a deep eaves detail that adds style while offering practical weather protection. Matching grey aluminium doors and windows complete the look. Wide, desk-height windows frame views of the garden and the countryside beyond, with one bi-fold window opening fully to connect the interior with the hot tub area outside.
Year-Round Comfort
Timber Rooms specialise in fully insulated, multi-layer timber frame garden rooms designed for comfortable, everyday use in every season. The insulated structure works alongside high-performance glazing to create a room that feels as good in the depths of winter as it does on a summer’s day.
High-Quality Interior & Electrical Detailing
Inside, the office is finished to a high standard, with plastered and decorated walls and ceiling, complemented by laminate flooring. Timber Rooms’ in-house electrical company, TR Energy, worked with the clients to configure a tailored electrical specification, including interior and exterior lighting, power point placement, and data cabling for a reliable internet connection. As part of their turnkey service, Timber Rooms handled the final electrical connection and certification between the garden office and the main house. The team also prepared the hot tub base and surrounding decking, ensuring the whole space works together seamlessly.
Expertise with Added Services
Focusing their work in East Sussex, West Sussex, Surrey, and South London, Timber Rooms offer a complete design-and-build service. Their in-house electrical expertise is also available for other garden building projects through TR Energy, who specialise in garden lighting and electrical installation.
