Redwood Garden Office by Cosy Garden Rooms

Redwood Garden Office by Cosy Garden Rooms

Published: 28 February 2025
Reading Time: 3 minutes

For one Derbyshire couple, a dedicated workspace separate from their home was the perfect solution to balancing their professional lives. With the homeowner running a business from home and his wife, a teacher, also needing a quiet space for work, their existing setup—a shared room in the house—was no longer practical. They turned to Cosy Garden Rooms to create a bespoke garden office that would provide the space and separation they needed while making the most of their beautiful countryside setting.

A Bespoke Garden Office Tailored to Their Needs

Measuring 6m x 3.5m, their new garden office has been designed to blend seamlessly into its surroundings. The building is set on a concrete base, with an additional base constructed for the external air conditioning unit. The exterior combines natural Redwood cladding on three sides with Sovereign composite cladding at the back—offering a balance between aesthetics and low maintenance. Many customers choose the maintenance-free composite cladding finish that Cosy Garden Rooms is known for, but they also offer durable timber cladding options, including Redwood.

Redwood cladding is a popular choice for those who prefer the warmth and natural character of timber. It is a durable, high-quality softwood that is naturally durable and resistant to decay and insects, especially when properly maintained. Over time, Redwood develops an attractive silver-grey patina if left untreated, though it can also be maintained with stains or oils to preserve its rich colour. Redwood is also a sustainable option, sourced from well-managed forests, making it an environmentally friendly cladding choice.

Anthracite UPVC doors and windows, featuring integrated blinds, complete the contemporary look.

Inside, the space is designed for comfort and productivity. The walls are finished with grooved boarding, paired with a plain ceiling for a clean, seamless appearance. Crisp white walls contrast with the dark grey laminate flooring, creating a modern, professional environment. With ten LED downlights, four double sockets, and an integrated air conditioning system, the office is fully equipped for year-round use.

Professional Service from Start to Finish

The homeowners had a clear vision for their garden office from the outset. They knew they wanted a natural wood-clad design that complemented their house and provided a professional workspace. After an initial WhatsApp enquiry to Cosy Garden Rooms, they received a response within two hours, and a site visit was arranged within a few days.

Communication throughout the project was seamless, with the homeowners praising the responsiveness of the Cosy Garden Rooms team. The build itself took just four days, with the team described as tidy, polite, and always punctual—although, as the homeowners noted with a smile, they were happy to accept as much tea as was on offer!

A comfortable home office for two people has been created

The Impact of a Garden Home Office

Since completion, the homeowners have found that the physical separation between home and work has been more beneficial than they initially expected. Despite being just a few steps from the house, having a dedicated workspace has helped them focus and maintain a better work-life balance.

The air conditioning has also been a standout feature. While it was an additional expense, they consider it well worth the investment, ensuring the space remains comfortable throughout the year.

Value for Money and a Space That Delivers

Having researched the market extensively, the homeowners quickly realised the wide variation in quality and price across different garden room providers. They wanted a fully insulated building suitable for year-round use—not just a summerhouse or a glorified shed. Cosy Garden Rooms stood out as the best option, offering the exact design they wanted without any compromises—at the most competitive price they received.
