If you look to the space in your garden, you can create a purpose-built, professional pilates studio at home. This example by Garden2Office is an excellent example of how a garden studio can be tailored around a pilates instructor's needs.
Garden2Office build contemporary style, Swedish design garden studios. This pilates studio is an example of their Malmo range. The pitched roofline of the Malmo, creating a wonderful interior space with high vaulted ceiling.
Garden2Offices clients decided to site the studio close to their house, so an attractive roof was essential to them. The Malmo features a seamed metal roof system imported from Sweden. The high spec sheets are lightweight, yet highly durable, and come in a range of colours. The customers choice of dark grey works really well with the Thermowood cladding, we think.
Clever window configuration
As we can see, the pilates studio is a wonderfully light space. Yet it does not have the typical floor-to-ceiling glazing configuration we often see used in garden studio design.
Working closely with their clients, the Garden2Office team has designed a window configuration that floods the room with natural light while maintaining a lot of clear wall space for equipment and offers privacy for pilates students working out.
A glazed door and tall narrow windows offer glimpses of the garden beyond. It is, however, the windows in the roof which fill the room with natural light.
Roof skylights have been mixed with triangular windows in the gable end. This high level of glazing detail adds a lot of character to the room.
Designed to withstand the Swedish climate, Garden2Office studios are highly insulated. Ensuring they are warm in winter and cool in summer - ideal for an exercise studio.
As we can see from these photos, Garden 2 Office finish the interior of their studios with a crisp plastered and decorated finish. Combined with a wooden floor, a professional pilates studio has been created.
