Green Retreats Introduces the A Range

Green Retreats Introduces the A Range

Published: 5 March 2025
Reading Time: 4 minutes

Green Retreats, a long-established industry leader known for their innovation in garden room design, has introduced the A Range—a dual-pitch garden room that offers a striking architectural presence and enhanced ceiling height. This design moves beyond the conventional mono-pitch style, creating a vaulted ceiling that transforms the interior into a bright and spacious retreat. Whether for a home gym, golf simulator, or an elegant space for work, relaxation, or entertaining, the A Range is designed to impress.

The roof has a standing seam metal finish

Maximising Height and Light

One of the key benefits of the A Range is the additional headroom compared to a standard 2.5m mono-pitch garden room. The vaulted ceiling creates a sense of openness, making it feel light and airy. Many assume that taller garden rooms require Planning Permission, but the A Range can be built under Permitted Development, provided it is sited at least 2m from all boundaries. If placed closer, Planning Permission would be required. The ridge height varies depending on the width of the structure:

  • 3m width – 3.45m ridge height
  • 4m width – 3.8m ridge height
  • 5m width – 4m ridge height

Each option remains within the 4m maximum height permitted under Permitted Development rules.

You can incorporate as much glazing as you wish into your A Range

Two Distinctive Styles

Green Retreats has developed two designs within the A Range, each offering a unique take on the pitched roof garden room:

  • The A1 – A symmetrical, gable-end design that maximises internal space and light. The shape creates a sense of openness, making it ideal for creative studios, home gyms, or offices that require an inspiring environment.
  • The A2 – A side-positioned gable roof that provides additional privacy while maintaining the spaciousness of the design. This layout is well suited for focused workspaces or quiet retreats.

Premium Finishes and Customisation

Green Retreats continues to innovate not only in structural design but also in materials, offering a selection of high-quality cladding options:

  • Standing Seam Cladding – A sleek, weather-resistant choice that complements the roof for a unified look.
  • Redwood Cladding – Sustainably sourced, this FSC-certified option offers natural strength and resistance to weathering.
  • Composite Cladding – Available in Oak, Cedar, Black, and Grey, this low-maintenance material ensures lasting aesthetic appeal.
  • Slatted Cladding – A contemporary choice, available in Redwood and Honey Redwood, adding depth and texture to the exterior.

The A Range also introduces design elements exclusive to this collection:

  • Skylights – Positioned in the roof to flood the space with natural light.
  • Mezzanine Storage – A practical addition, creating extra storage or a quiet reading nook.
  • Pendant Lighting Options – New ambient lighting choices enhance the atmosphere of the space.
You can choose to have standing seam metal cladding on the walls which is a striking look

Designed for Year-Round Comfort

As with all Green Retreats buildings, the A Range is well-specified to provide a comfortable environment throughout the year. The combination of premium insulation, high-spec materials, and energy-efficient design ensures a space that is warm in winter and cool in summer. Standard features include:

  • Sliding Doors & Windows – A 2.3m sliding door set is included, with additional doors and a selection of window styles available.
  • High-Performance Insulation – Walls, roof, and flooring feature premium-grade materials for thermal efficiency.
  • Heating & Electrical Fit-Out – A wall-mounted radiator is included as standard, with the option to upgrade to underfloor heating or air conditioning. Three double sockets are fitted as standard, with additional options available.
  • Integrated Lighting – A choice of internal and external lighting options, including PIR sensor security lights.
You can choose the placement of glazing, in this case bi-fold doors have been paired with a glazed gable end

Personalisation & Upgrades

For those who want to tailor their A Range garden room even further, a range of upgrades are available, including:

  • Additional windows and doors
  • Enhanced electrical specification
  • Internal partition walls with melamine or plaster finish
  • Carbon film underfloor heating
  • Air conditioning with an external air source heat pump

A Perfect Blend of Form and Function

Green Retreats has once again demonstrated why they are at the forefront of the industry. The A Range offers a balance of architectural interest and practical functionality, making it an excellent choice for those seeking a stylish, high-performance garden room. Whether used for fitness, work, or leisure, the A Range is designed to enhance both the home and the garden, offering a truly distinctive space tailored to modern lifestyles.
