Many buyers are realising that a garden room makes the ideal premises for a business. For instance, we are seeing more and more garden rooms being used as beauty studios. Miniature Manors recently designed a contemporary garden room for a beauty therapist who was looking to create a modern workspace that reflected her brand and professionalism.
Garden rooms make great beauty studios, as they offer all the flexibility of working from home, but create a clear distinction between home and work life. If you have separate access to your garden, you clients needn’t even have to come into the main house.
As well as the brief to create a modern workspace, Miniature Manors were tasked with incorporating a storage area for business supplies. They were also asked to reflect materials used in the main house such as the finish of the windows.
The Miniature Manors design team created a 5 meter x 3 meter building that incorporated the main studio space and a storage room alongside which is accessed from the outside. The building has been clad in the popular Western Red Cedar. The door to the storage room has also been clad in the Cedar. This has been so well matched that the door is almost invisible in the wall. There is a second secret door that leads into the main room. This second point of access is a clever idea rather than using the sliding doors all the time.
Grey aluminium sliding doors and a full-length window create a glazed corner in the main studio. The windows and doors have been chosen to reflect those in the main house. They also create a sharp look when mixed with the Cedar cladding.
The building has been finished with a living sedum roof, this really softens a garden room, looks great from above and replaces a section of ‘green’ in the garden that would otherwise be lost by the building.
Internally the studio has a light, modern feel. The walls and ceiling have been plastered and decorated. Coupled with a laminate floor the room has the finish of a room in a new house.
As bespoke garden room designers, Miniature Manors are happy to work with their clients to tailor the design of the building to their needs and tastes.
