A few examples of Garden Spaces acoustic garden rooms:
Garden recording studio with acoustic porch
Garden Spaces has recently completed this stylish 4.5m x 3.45m bespoke soundproof room for a client who required a music room and recording studio at the end of their garden. Designed to maximise the available space within three boundary fences, the studio boasts a range of acoustic features, including within the multi-layer core structure and acoustic doors and windows. The soundproofing measures ensure the room is isolated from external noise, providing the perfect environment for recording and music practice.
As well as offering a range of acoustic options that can be incorporated into the multi-layer core structure of their garden rooms, Garden Spaces also offer the option of adding an acoustic porch. These porches are designed to provide an additional layer of sound insulation, effectively blocking out external noise and ensuring optimal sound quality within the room.
A glazed uPVC door finished in RAL 7016 (Anthracite Grey) leads into the porch area. There is then a second door, this time a solid acoustic door, complete with an acoustic drop-down seal, threshold seal, and acoustic perimeter seal.
Adding an acoustic porch to a garden music room offers several acoustical benefits. The porch provides an additional insulation layer, blocking external noise and preventing sound from escaping the room. This is important for musicians and recording artists who need a quiet and controlled environment for their work. Creating a buffer zone between the room and the outside world helps reduce unwanted noise.
Acoustic double-skinned window
When it comes to designing a garden music room, glazing is generally kept to a minimum as it can leak sound. However, there is also a balance to be struck between minimising glazing and providing natural light and a view from the room.
Garden Spaces overcame this challenge for their client by incorporating a double-skinned, double-glazed acoustic window into the design. Positioned perfectly to allow the owner to look out while working at the keyboards, the acoustic window effectively blocks out external noise, ensuring that the sound quality within the room remains optimal.
Condenserless Air Conditioning
The interior of the garden music room is just as important as the exterior, and at Garden Spaces, the team takes great care to ensure that every detail is perfect. In this case, the studio's walls are fully plastered and decorated, with a dark grey finish that the customer specified.
A specialist acoustic vent has been incorporated into the design, providing ventilation without compromising the soundproofing properties of the room. Additionally, rather than a traditional air conditioning system, a condenserless air conditioning unit has been installed, which helps maintain a consistent room temperature and humidity level.
Mix of exterior cladding
Garden Spaces have mixed Western Red Cedar cladding on the front elevation with cement particle boards on the other three elevations. The cement particle board is finished in a RAL 7016 resifine finish, perfectly matching the door and window frames and roof trims, creating a cohesive and stylish look.
A composite decking step leads into the recording studio. The colour was again chosen to tie in with the doors and window finishes.
