Three & Four Bedroom Garden Annexes
Updated: 1 December 2025
A garden annexe can be created to offer the same space and practicality as a traditional home, with the option to include three or even four bedrooms. Experienced garden annexe designers understand that larger households have varying needs, which is why many work closely with you to create a layout tailored to your lifestyle. While some companies offer efficient, pre-designed floor plans, most of the companies we feature take a bespoke approach. They will discuss how you intend to use each room, ensuring your home meets your specific requirements and offers enough space for everyone to live comfortably.
See Which Companies Can Make Your Annexe Vision a Reality
This section highlights three and four-bedroom garden annexe projects, ideal for larger families or those seeking more flexibility in their living space. Whether you need bedrooms for children, extra space for hobbies, or room for guests and a home office, these projects demonstrate how you can create a spacious and functional home in a garden setting.
It’s worth noting that not many garden annexe companies offer three or four-bedroom designs, as they bring additional design challenges compared to their smaller counterparts. As a result, you may need to talk to different companies to see if they can bring your vision to life.
The projects featured here have been built under the Caravan Act and are classed as mobile homes. As these examples demonstrate, working within these regulations doesn’t prevent designers from creating stylish, efficient, and comfortable homes. These annexes offer ample space for families or those needing extra rooms, while still maintaining the practicality and warmth of a traditional home.

This 3-bedroom garden annexe by A Room in the Garden showcases a custom design built under the mobile home rules of the Caravan Act, offering an alternative to traditional planning permissions. Designed as a home for a mother and child, the annexe integrates seamlessly into the family’s large garden with floor-to-ceiling glazing that enhances the connection to the outdoors. The open-plan kitchen and living area features skylights, creating a bright, airy space, while a separate utility room keeps essential appliances discreetly out of sight. The family bathroom includes both a bath and a shower, and one bedroom doubles as a music studio with its own entrance. The exterior blends timber and dark grey corrugated metal cladding, with decorative slatted panels adding a contemporary touch. Built on sloping ground, the annexe is supported by a groundscrew foundation, concealed by a redwood deck with integrated steps. A Room in the Garden provided a full-service solution, from design to construction.
This comfortable four-bedroom log cabin by Norwegian Log has reunited Wendy, Wayne, and their two children on their family land. Previously living apart due to work commitments, they chose a log cabin as an alternative to a traditional house, which would have been difficult to get planning permission for. Built under the Caravan Act, the cabin received a Certificate of Lawful Use, allowing the project to proceed. Wendy designed the flexible interior, featuring a master bedroom with an en-suite, a spacious family bathroom, a modern kitchen, and a large living room with bi-fold doors leading to a garden veranda. One bedroom has been transformed into a sewing room for Wendy. Norwegian Log’s bespoke design service helped the family create a home that fits their lifestyle perfectly.
