85sqm Two-Bedroom Garden Annexe

85sqm Two-Bedroom Garden Annexe

Adding an annexe to your home can be an excellent solution for caring for older relatives. It allows you to create a self-contained living space, maintaining the independence of both households while providing peace of mind that your family members are just a short walk away.

In this article, we explore the benefits of garden annexes and showcase an impressive 85 sqm two-bedroom annexe, designed and built by Timeless Garden Rooms. Each design by Timeless Garden Rooms is tailored to the family’s specific needs, and their comprehensive turnkey service ensures that the entire project is handled from start to finish, allowing you to relax and watch your new home take shape.

Benefits of a Self-Contained Living Annexe

An annexe offers an ideal living arrangement for older relatives who may require assistance with day-to-day activities. It provides them with the independence of having their own space, complete with a kitchen, living room, bedroom, and bathroom, while remaining close enough to the family for comfort and support. This setup allows them to maintain their privacy and dignity, knowing help is nearby if needed.

A standalone garden annexe is becoming an increasingly popular alternative to extending the main house. Unlike traditional home extensions, a garden living annexe is a self-contained building situated within the garden. This type of structure offers numerous advantages, including greater flexibility in floor plan design.

A key benefit of a garden annexe is that it can be specifically tailored to meet the occupant's needs. The layout can be optimised for comfort and convenience, with features like wider doorways to accommodate wheelchairs or the inclusion of specialist equipment to assist with mobility. Additionally, the design can maximise natural light, creating a healthier and more comfortable living environment.

Choosing the Right Annexe Size

Garden annexes come in various shapes and sizes, with designs customised to fit the family’s needs, available garden space, and budget. The smallest annexes we've featured are around 20 square metres, but Timeless Garden Rooms can adapt the size, layout, and features to meet their customers' specific requirements. Recently, we featured two very different annexe buildings that demonstrate this flexibility.

The large living room leaves plenty of room for people to move around

This 85 sqm garden annexe by Timeless Garden Rooms is a prime example of how a larger annexe can provide ample space and flexibility. The L-shaped building features an open-plan living room, kitchen, and dining area. Two spacious bedrooms, one at each end of the living space, branch off from the main area.

Both bedrooms have en-suite bathrooms, accessed via pocket doors. Pocket doors are an excellent space-saving solution, as they slide into the wall when opened, eliminating the need for a traditional swinging door and freeing up valuable floor space.

Timeless Garden Rooms will incorporate you ideal kitchen configuration

The annexe also includes a well-equipped kitchen, perfect for a keen cook. Timeless Garden Rooms install the client’s choice of kitchen units, complete with integrated appliances and generous storage. The L-shaped configuration of the units leaves plenty of room for a dining area, ensuring the space never feels cramped.

A lovely feature of this annexe is the covered veranda that runs along the forward-facing elevations. Each room has doors that open onto this veranda, offering views of the landscaped garden. The covered area provides a sheltered spot to sit and enjoy the outdoors, offering protection from the elements and allowing the occupants to enjoy the garden even in inclement weather.

Turnkey Service

Unlike some competitors, Timeless Garden Rooms offers a full turnkey service for their living annexes. This includes obtaining planning approval and ensuring that the structure is signed off by Building Control. Their service guarantees that the annexe complies with all relevant regulations and is safe for occupancy. This approach saves clients time and stress, as they don't need to navigate the sometimes complicated process of obtaining planning permission and meeting building regulations on their own.

Timeless Garden Rooms also handles all groundwork, including foundation preparation, drainage, plumbing, and electrics. This eliminates the need for clients to coordinate multiple contractors and ensures that every aspect of the project is completed to the highest standards.
