We have recently been introduced to the work of QB Rooms, who have launched a range of contemporary style garden rooms. QB Rooms have a good specification, that includes more, as standard than many similar ranges.
QB Rooms are built using a SIP's core structure. This offers a highly insulated envelope which creates a room that will be comfortable to use all year round. The QB Rooms team have made a couple of animations that show the multi-layer build-up of their wall structure.
Low maintenance garden rooms
Understanding that their buyers don't want to commit to extensive maintenance to keep their garden room looking good, the QB Rooms team have chosen a palette of low maintenance finishes for the exterior of their buildings.
HardiePlank, a cement fibre board, is offered as standard. HardiePlank has a woodgrain texture and comes in a range of stylish colours. The colour pigment is added during the manufacturing process, so it won't require painting and won't fade.
A cement fibre board like HardiePlank is an excellent choice if you want your garden room to maintain its new appearance in the long term, as, unlike timber claddings, it won't change colour as it ages.
If you would prefer the natural beauty of timber cladding for the exterior of your building, QB Rooms also offer Cedar and Thermowood finishes. Both of these timber finishes are highly durable and provide a long lifespan.
QB Rooms feature a Plastisol coated steel roof covering; this is another low maintenance finish. The roof trims are colour matched with the uPVC doors and windows, which will also require little maintenance.
If you choose a design with a deck or veranda, you will find that composite decking boards are used. Composite decking maintains its colour in the long term but, more importantly, does not come slippery in the same way timber decking can.
Four garden room ranges
QB Rooms have designed four garden room ranges: the Alby, Blickling, Colney and Drayton. As you can see, they are great designs. We particularly like the cheek detail that supports the roof canopy.
Book a design consultation
The QB Rooms team make it easy to speak with them so that you can learn more about the range and ask any questions. They have a live chat facility, but what has taken our eye is that you can book a quick chat using their online calendar or a longer design consultation at a time to suit you. We haven't seen many other companies make it so easy to book a design consultation.
If you want to get an idea of the price before you book a call, try this page where you can pick a style of building and cladding finish, a pricing table then pops up showing the costs for different sizes.
