We have recently been introduced to the work of Podhouse who offer a range of standard garden room designs alongside a bespoke design service.
What has taken our eye is Podhouse choice of external cladding finishes. They offer the popular options of softwood cladding and contemporary black cladding alongside something a bit different - Spanish slate - this is an innovative choice which we haven't seen offered in garden room
design previously.
Not only would slate look good, creating a wall with texture and character. It is also a low maintenance option, that will stand the test of time, looking as good in a decade as the day build is finished.
You may be thinking that a slate clad garden room would be expensive, but looking at the Podhouse pricing page, prices start at £13,750 for a 2.4m x 2.4m building, which is very competitive.
Scandi influences
Shape wise Podhouse designs incorporate many of the popular features of garden room design. For instance, they offer a canopy detailing along the front wall, which creates a welcoming entrance to the room and offer large expanses of glazing, which create a lovely connection with the garden.
The finish of the Podhouse garden rooms has a Scandi influence. The wonderful grain of the Larch cladding, the sleek finish of the aluminium doors and windows and the addition of stylish light fittings.
We particularly like this project with a shadow gap cladding and a picture window. It's nice how the contemporary building sits well alongside the more traditional elements of the garden.
Podhouses specification is a well thought out multilayer buildup, based on a structural Insulated Panel (SIPS) core structure.
The Podhouse team offer a full-service installation from installing the ground screw foundation to the final decoration and connecting the electrics.
