We get a lot of enquiries from buyers looking for advice on the specification for a soundproof garden studio. We reply with the names of companies we know offer acoustic options, with the caveat that soundproof specifications differ significantly between companies. Some companies add a layer of acoustic plasterboard to their usual specification and market it as soundproof, while others go as far as creating a decoupled structure forming a room within a room. Unless you are a sound specialist, it can all be somewhat confusing, until now, that is!
Garden Spaces have designed and built a lot of soundproof garden studios over the years - there is a flavour of them here on the Garden Spaces website - use the filter to select music rooms.
With each of these buildings, the specification has been tailored to the customer's intended use. As a result, Garden Spaces have become experts in enhancing the acoustic qualities of their garden rooms.
Four specification levels to choose from
The Garden Spaces team have recently launched four acoustic packages you can choose from for your soundproof studio. Each one with a dB RW rating (weighted sound reduction index in decibels).

Each of the four levels incorporates acoustic materials in the floor, wall and roof structures. Check out what is included in each specification level here. Each build-up is demonstrated with clever cross section diagrams, which make it easy to visualise the layers.
