Having been one of eDEN Garden Rooms original batch of customers, back in 2012. Mark has been successfully running his business from his garden office ever since. When it came to moving house, installing a new office was a priority, and he returned to eDEN Garden Rooms to design and build it.
For Mark, having an office in the garden was a bonus when selling his house. Moving during the Coronavirus crisis was not easy, and the sale fell through three times. Each time the house was on the market, it was put under offer quickly, as buyers saw the benefits of having a ready-built garden office.
Mark wanted his new office to be built and ready to use soon after moving into his new house. So, he started working with the eDEN Garden Rooms team on the design, with them having the systems in place for work to begin as soon as he had the keys to the new house. Because of the delayed the sale, the installation date kept moving, but the eDEN Garden Rooms team could accommodate these changes, even in what is a hectic time for the garden room industry.
Stylishly detailed garden office
Mark had clear ideas for his new garden office, incorporating elements from his existing building and adding new features. Mark wanted the same Cedar cladding for his new design; this is a highly durable material that stands the test of time with little maintenance. This time he wanted to mix the Cedar with black aluminium doors and windows — a nice twist on the Anthracite Grey so commonly used in garden room design.
In his original garden office, Mark had bi-fold doors fitted. This time he opted for sliding doors as with bigger expanses of glazing they offer a clearer view into the garden. More people should consider this when choosing their doors.
The new office is 4m wide by 5.5m deep. A key feature of the design is the recessed front wall creating a porch over the entrance into the room. We see this 'hood' detailing a lot, but not normally so well detailed as the eDEN Garden Rooms team have done. We like how they have mitred the corner joints of the cladding. This attention to detail, combined with the colour matched corner joints add up to a stylish finish.
As you enter the room, your eye will be drawn to the 2m wide window at the back of the room. The positioning of the doors and window have been worked out so that Mark can fit sliding wardrobes which are his business - slidingwardrobeworld.com
As with all eDEN Garden Rooms, the office's interior has a high spec plastered and decorated finish. As standard, underfloor heating is fitted in an eDEN Garden Room. Mark chose to swap this for an air conditioning system that offers both heating and cooling meaning he will be able to control the temperature in the office at the touch of a button, all year round.
The eDEN Garden Rooms team completed the project in just two weeks on-site. The build was not straightforward, as, with no direct access to the back garden, all the materials for the project had to be walked through the house. We know the eDEN team have completed several builds where the access is through the house, and that they take every care to ensure this is a clean and damage-free process.
Mark went on to leave the eDEN Garden Rooms team a detailed, glowing reference:
This is the second garden room from eDEN. I was one of their early customers, and just moved house, so we went straight back to them again after 10 years use of the first version. I was very happy with the quality 10 years ago, and it looks as though they have become even more proficient on the detailing in the last 10 years. VERY, VERY happy. Still a small enough company to give you what feels like a personal service, whilst being large enough to offer the best design and specification. Complete in less than 2 weeks by a team who really knew what they were doing. They had difficult access, everything having to go through our house, but they took great care and were a pleasant bunch to have around for 2 weeks. Prices have gone up, but that's understandable given that everyone wants one of these at the moment, and the quality of the materials and workmanship involved. Was particularly impressed by the screw piles, which are an improvement over previous foundations in my opinion. Currently looking at planning permission for a third purchase for the front of the house. 5 Stars without a doubt."

So pleased with his second garden office, Mark hopes to get Planning Permission for another office in his front garden. That's testament to eDEN Garden Rooms work and the difference a garden office can make to your lifestyle - if ever anything was!
