Designed for Family Life with Views of the Garden
The new garden room has been designed to complement its countryside setting. Two sets of aluminium bifold doors have been arranged in a corner configuration, creating a wide opening that blurs the boundary between indoors and out. Next to one set of bifolds, a full-height window with a top opener has been added — framing another lovely garden view and offering quick ventilation on warmer days.
Thermowood Exterior with Deep Eaves Detailing
The exterior has been clad in Thermowood, a durable timber that undergoes a heat treatment process to improve its stability and weather resistance. With a distinctive grain pattern and warm honey-brown colouring, Thermowood weathers naturally to a silvery grey if left untreated. Ark Design Build also offer the option to paint the cladding black for a more contemporary finish, as seen on several of their recent projects.
A deep eaves detail adds a sense of substance to the building, and the Ark team have executed this with real precision. The same Thermowood boards have been used for the soffits and fascia, carefully aligned to match the cladding on the main walls. Exterior-grade LED downlights have been recessed into the soffit to provide soft illumination when the sun goes down.
A Fully Finished Interior — Ready to Use
Inside, the room is finished to a high standard, with plastered and decorated walls and ceiling paired with wooden flooring — creating a warm and modern interior. Ark Design Build work closely with each client to develop an electrical layout that meets their needs, including plentiful power sockets, indoor and outdoor lighting, and a hardwired internet connection for a stable, high-speed link. Slimline electric panel heaters have been fitted to keep the space comfortable on colder days.
