There are times in life when you want to share your vision and then hand over the reins to professionals who can bring it to life. This was exactly the case for a family who commissioned Timeless Garden Rooms to create a self-contained two-bedroom annexe in their garden.
The clients of Timeless Garden Rooms needed to create a new home for a relative diagnosed with a debilitating illness. With many other responsibilities to manage, the family sought a company that could handle the entire project—from design and planning application to construction and final approval from Building Control. A Specific Design Brief
The clients had a clear design brief for their annexe. They needed a comfortable, homely space that could accommodate the medical equipment required for their relative’s care, without feeling clinical.
The main bedroom had to be large enough to accommodate a specialised medical bed, while a smaller second bedroom was needed for a live-in carer. Although not immediately necessary, the annexe was also futureproofed to be wheelchair accessible, and Timeless Garden Rooms worked with Building Control to ensure all access met current regulations.
Maintaining a year-round connection with the garden was another key request. After the annexe was built, the garden would be landscaped, and the family wanted to enjoy views of it from within the annexe. To achieve this, Timeless Garden Rooms installed a set of French doors with sidelights, allowing for lovely views of the garden, even during winter when the doors remain closed.
Expert Guidance Through the Planning Process
Measuring 12 metres wide by 5 metres deep, this is a sizeable annexe for its garden and residential setting. Though the project faced some local opposition, the Timeless Garden Rooms team successfully demonstrated to the Local Authority the value this addition would bring to the property.
A Light-Filled Home with a Lovely Connection to the Garden
Externally, the annexe exudes traditional charm with its painted weatherboard cladding and Cedar shingle roof. Inside, the vaulted ceiling, made possible by the pitched roofline, creates a spacious and airy atmosphere.
As part of their turnkey service, Timeless Garden Rooms also handled the groundworks and plumbing connections needed for the kitchen and shower room.

To ensure the annexe would be a comfortable and functional home, the family wanted it to have reliable internet, TV access, and integrated music throughout the space.
