We are excited to introduce a new range of garden rooms that truly stand out: wudl. Garden Rooms. These buildings are designed with strong eco credentials, using eco-friendly and recycled materials. What excites us most are the personalised options wudl. offers, creating one of the most unique garden room designs we have seen in a long time.
Led by architect Ric Frankland, wudl. Garden Rooms leverages the company’s extensive experience in designing and building low-impact houses to develop their new garden room design, known as “Sojourn in the garden.” These well-specified garden rooms use the same materials and building techniques as their houses. Unlike many garden room ranges, wudl.'s designs comply with Building Regulations as standard, expanding the potential uses for these versatile spaces, including sleeping accommodation.
Sojourn in the Garden
The “Sojourn in the garden” design comes in four standard sizes, offering spaces from 7.2sqm to 14.9sqm. There are options to extend the floor plan by adding a kitchen, shower room, or bedroom. Additionally, you can add a bookshelf module that can incorporate a stove. So, you could create a comfortable living annexe or guest accommodation.
This screenshot shows the different size and layout options that wudl. offers. Each layout clearly lists the price, including the foundation, delivery, and VAT.
wudl. Garden Rooms are manufactured in Manchester and can be installed throughout the UK. The wudl. team offers a turnkey service, handling the entire project from start to finish. Their designs are Permitted Development compliant, but if planning approval is required, they can manage this as part of their service.
Permitted Development Compliant Garden Room
The “Sojourn in the garden” range features a pitched roof designed to comply with Permitted Development rules, which require such designs to be positioned at least 2m from each boundary. With an eaves height of 2.5m and a ridge height of 4m, this garden room offers a much more spacious feel than flat roof alternatives. wudl. finishes their roofs with a black profiled metal panel, adding to the contemporary aesthetic.
Unique Options to Personalise Your Garden Room
As mentioned, the wudl. team has designed one of the most unique garden room ranges we have seen in a long time. The standard exterior cladding is Douglas Fir, but options include black profiled metal cladding, galvanized steel, or COR-TEN steel, each offering a distinctive look.
One of the standout features is the option of feature walls. While we have seen living walls used before in garden room design, wudl.'s steel pattern sheet detailing and giant insect hotel are new to the market. Imagine the talking points incorporating one or more of these options into your design would create!
The smaller panel next to the doors can also be customised. Options include a living wall, patterned steel panel, insect hotel, outdoor shower, garden tool cupboard, log store, or barbecue wall.
60+ Year Life Expectancy
The materials selected by Ric and the wudl. team, including SupaSoft insulation made from recycled plastic bottles and Velfac timber-aluminum doors and window units, ensure a long, low-maintenance lifespan estimated at over 60 years.
