Many garden room owners choose to run a business from their purpose-built space, and beauty therapy is one of the most popular professions to operate from a garden room. A garden room offers beauticians the perfect balance of working from home while maintaining a clear separation between personal and professional life. It also provides a professional, private environment for clients to visit.
Sanctum Garden Studios collaborated on a beauty studio project in Worthing, designed to fit seamlessly into the end of a long, narrow garden. Their client, Nikki, worked with an architect, and the Sanctum team liaised closely to ensure the studio was tailored to Nikki’s specific needs.
Planning Permission was Required for this Business-Use Garden Room
Sanctum Garden Studios designed a building measuring 2.4m wide by 4.2m deep, with an overall height of just under 2.5m. While garden rooms up to 2.5m in height often fall under Permitted Development rules, Planning Permission was necessary in this case due to the space being used to run a business. Sanctum Garden Studios provided all the required elevation drawings and specifications, enabling Nikki to successfully navigate the application process.
Completed in Just Two Days
Once the Planning Permission was granted, the beauty studio was built in only two days. Nikki selected the standard specification from Sanctum’s Contemporary Overhang Range, with the addition of two exterior lights to suit her needs.
