Bespoke Urban Range Studio With Enhanced Acoustic Detailing

Sanctum Garden Studios will work with you to design your ideal garden studio layout and specification. This 6m x 3m building in Burnley is a bespoke example from their Urban Range, finished in low-maintenance granite composite cladding. The owner chose the Cubed roofline, though the Urban can also be specified with a roof overhang, creating a neat eaves detail on the front and sides. Combined with house-quality uPVC doors and windows and an EPDM roof covering, the studio requires very little upkeep to maintain its appearance.
Designed With Sound In Mind
While Sanctum Garden Studios typically insulate their buildings with PIR rigid boards, some clients want to prioritise acoustic performance alongside thermal insulation. In these cases, Sanctum can replace PIR with Rockwool RWA45 acoustic insulation. This particular project took things further with a full suite of sound-reducing measures.
The walls were constructed with double layers of high-density wallboard, separated by a heavy acoustic rubber layer. Internally, stylish slatted acoustic panels line the longer walls, while the two shorter walls feature high-density foam absorption tiles. Together, these treatments reduce reverberation and improve sound control within the space.
Acoustic Upgrades Throughout
The detailing wasn’t limited to the walls. The glazing was upgraded to acoustic glass, which is laminated to reduce sound transmission significantly, and fitted with integrated blinds for privacy.
The roof build-up was also enhanced. In addition to the standard EPDM membrane, Sanctum added an external mineral-laden rubber layer, finished with a stone shingle topping to further dampen sound transmission.

As a result of these enhancements, the Urban Range studio offers excellent acoustic performance while retaining the modern, stylish look Sanctum Garden Studios is known for. Inside, the acoustic wall treatments create a contemporary finish, softened with slimline tall windows on three walls that frame views of the garden.
