Triangular garden studios designed to slot into the corner of a garden are a clever solution for maximising space. This bespoke build by Sanctum Garden Studios showcases some of the sharpest angles we’ve seen in such designs.
A Bespoke Design for a Unique Space
Sanctum Garden Studios were approached by Nigel, a customer seeking a custom garden studio that would fit neatly into the corner of his garden. The result was an acute triangular floorplan, with the longest side—the front wall—measuring 4.6 metres. This allowed ample room for a wide set of uPVC French doors, complemented by floor-to-ceiling sidelights.
Premium Cladding for a Stylish Finish
The front elevation is clad in timeless Western Red Cedar, adding natural warmth to the design. For the rear and left-hand walls, which are positioned close to the garden boundaries, a low-maintenance weatherboard cladding was used. Sanctum Garden Studios selected Rangewood, a durable material made from wood strands and resins. This highly resilient cladding is available in various colours, with dark grey being particularly popular.
Unlike traditional cladding methods, Rangewood can be pre-fixed to the panels before assembly, eliminating the need for access space around the building. This is a key advantage, as some companies require at least 450mm clearance for installation, which can compromise interior space.
Smart Foundations and Custom Interiors
For the studio’s base, a steel floor frame was custom-manufactured, ensuring precise levelling and quick installation of the insulated floor panels.
Inside, the walls and ceiling were plasterboarded. Nigel opted to hire a local plasterer to skim the interior, as Sanctum Garden Studios advise that this approach can sometimes be more cost-effective than extending the on-site work of their team.
