We love exploring every garden room we write about and seeing how owners personalise these versatile spaces to fit their needs. Occasionally, a project with a real wow factor comes along, and this pool room project by Timber Rooms is one of those occasions.
Timber Rooms operates in Sussex, Surrey, and South London, offering a bespoke design service where they collaborate with each client to create a garden room tailored to its intended use, the garden, and the client's aesthetic style.
In this project, Timber Rooms’ clients wanted a pool room that included a changing room and shower, a comfortable sitting area for relaxation and entertainment, a kitchen for snacks and drinks, and a home gym with views of the garden. They also required a discreet storage room for pool equipment.
Working closely with their clients, Timber Rooms designed a garden room with a layout that accommodates all these functions while creating a harmonious space.
Since the project exceeds 30 square meters, it had to comply with Building Regulations, which Timber Rooms managed on behalf of their clients.
Larch & black cladding are a striking pairing
The pool room boasts a sleek, contemporary aesthetic. Expanses of glazing are balanced by vertical Siberian Larch cladding. The natural, rich honey colour of the Larch is paired with black-painted boards, creating a striking contrast. The black boards on the canopy fascia are meticulously detailed so that the joint grooves align with the lines of the natural Larch.
The door and window frames are high-spec, powder-coated aluminium systems. The three-leaf sliding doors leading into the main room effortlessly open to create a seamless flow between indoor and outdoor spaces.
The floor of the garden room is designed so that the finished flooring height, door threshold, and tiles around the pool are all level, eliminating trip hazards when moving between indoors and outdoors.
The roof features a living roof system, allowing the building to blend into the landscape when viewed from above.
Home Gym with Garden Views
Adjacent to the main living area is a well-equipped home gym. A corner of floor-to-ceiling glazing, created by combining large picture windows with a glazed door, frames a lovely view of the garden during workouts. The door and a small window on the rear wall can be easily opened for ventilation.
Timber Rooms can include data cabling for streaming movies or joining online classes from the gym. The electrical specification of this pool room includes an integrated sound system, with speakers discreetly recessed in the ceilings.
Space to Relax and Entertain
The middle section of the building is designed for relaxation and entertainment. A sleek kitchen area runs along one wall, ideal for preparing drinks and snacks. A slatted feature wall includes a flush-mounted TV, but if the owners prefer, they can enjoy the view of the sky through a large roof window.
Spa-Like Shower Room
A spa-like wet room leads off the main space, with a changing area positioned in front. Timber Rooms handles the groundworks required to connect the shower rooms and kitchens to mains services as part of their turnkey service.
