There is a new option for garden room cladding, LP Strongcore which is distributed in the UK by Hawthorn Timber. New to the UK it has been widely used in the USA on houses and garden buildings.
LP Strongcore is manufactured by the Louisiana-Pacific Corporation, one of the biggest manufacturers of orientated strand board – OSB. The LP Strongcore product mixes strands of hardwoods – oak, maple and ash with waxes for durability, resins to resist moisture and binders to resist impact. Borates are also in the mix to prevent fungal attack and rot. These Borates are safe and have been used in household items like carpet for many decades.
The face of the cladding has a primed finish that takes paint well. There are no knots and the boards won’t warp so your paint finish should look as good as possible.
