Garden2Office stands out as one of the few garden room specialists offering a seamed metal roof on their pitched-roof designs. Renowned for their Swedish garden rooms, their Malmö range, with its contemporary barn-style aesthetic, showcases this resilient and appealing roof finish.
Bespoke Design for a Dog Grooming Parlour
This recent project highlights the versatile seamed metal roof within a customised Malmö garden room. Tailored for a client’s specific needs, this design serves as a dog grooming parlour, perfectly demonstrating the adaptability of the Malmö range.
The building's modern barn-style design has been enhanced with extensive glazing. Two sets of bi-fold doors create an open corner that seamlessly connects to the garden. Additional light and ventilation are provided by side-opening windows and striking triangular windows integrated into the gable end.
Well-Specified Insulation and Triple Glazing
Garden2Office imports a high-spec Swedish building system, with well-specified insulation to endure Sweden’s cold climate. This specification includes triple-glazed doors and windows, an upgrade over the double-glazed units typically found in most garden rooms, ensuring an extra layer of thermal efficiency.
Skylights for Added Light and Ventilation
Velux skylights have been incorporated on both sides of the roof. These skylights promote easy ventilation and, together with the room's other glazed elements, create a bright, airy space perfect for year-round use.
Combining Cladding Finishes
The trend of mixing cladding finishes is becoming more popular, especially for areas that are not visible or are difficult to maintain. Using premium cladding like Cedar on prominent walls and cost-effective materials elsewhere makes practical and financial sense.
In this project, the client opted for Cedar cladding on two visible elevations and chose cream Cedral weatherboard for the other two walls. Cedral is a cement particle board that arrives pre-coloured and requires no painting. As these two walls are not easily accessible, the low-maintenance, durable Cedral is a smart choice.
Partitioned Storage Area
A practical storage shed area has been integrated into the building, sectioned off with partition walls. This space is accessed through a cleverly concealed ‘secret’ door, finished in matching Cedar cladding for a seamless look.
Vaulted Ceilings for Spacious Interiors
The Malmö’s pitched roof design results in a vaulted ceiling, creating an open, airy atmosphere. Combined with ample glazing and a feature wall in the client’s chosen colour, the room feels particularly spacious. The ceiling’s apex is enhanced by track spotlights, adding both style and function.
