Miniature Manors designed and built this remarkable garden room seamlessly built into a hillside. As bespoke garden room designers, their team crafted a tailored solution that maximised the available space—something a standard design simply couldn't achieve.
The owners approached Miniature Manors with the goal of preserving their sons’ sports area in the garden. They proposed building on the hill at the end of the property. While this posed challenges, the Miniature Manors team, experienced in working with complex plots, embraced the project with enthusiasm.
Spacious and Functional Design
The completed garden room measures an impressive 4.8 by 4.2 metres, fully utilising the hillside location. Designed as a professional workspace for a child psychiatrist, the room needed to offer both comfort and simplicity to suit the diverse needs of her clients.
Built on a suspended timber floor, the building extends outward to include a decked entrance area. This doubles as a seating space during warmer months, blending function and aesthetics.
Built for Year-Round Comfort
Fully insulated, the garden room ensures comfort in every season. The exterior features featheredge cladding, providing a natural, textured appearance. The roof is finished with a durable EPDM rubber covering, with rainwater managed via a guttering system that channels it into a water butt.
The design incorporates a set of oak bi-fold doors on the front elevation. Unlike UPVC or aluminium, the oak doors lend a warm, inviting aesthetic. They can be opened individually or folded back entirely, creating a seamless indoor-outdoor experience. Additional natural light streams through a cleverly positioned UPVC skylight—ideal for this setting.
Modern Interior and Features
Inside, the garden room is fully plastered and decorated, resembling a high-quality room in a new home. It includes:
- Four double electrical sockets
- Internal and external spotlights
- Electrical connection to the house mains, arranged by Miniature Manors
These features ensure the space is ready for immediate use as a professional workspace or retreat.
