This custom-built 7m x 4.5m garden room from Executive Garden Rooms is unusual in that it is positioned alongside the main house. This positioning required a planning application rather than being covered by Permitted Development rights. Executive Garden Rooms managed this planning process on behalf of the clients as part of their comprehensive turnkey service.
Convenient Access from Front and Back Gardens
Designed with accessibility in mind, the side positioning allows the garden room to be reached from both the front and back gardens. The interior layout maximises functionality, featuring three rooms: a spacious main area for gym or multi-purpose use, an entrance hall, and a cloakroom. Executive Garden Rooms offers a bespoke design service, allowing clients to select a layout that aligns perfectly with their needs.
High-Spec Finishes for a Long-Lasting Build
Durable Cedral Cladding
The garden room’s exterior is clad in Cedral, a low-maintenance cement based material known for its durability and 50-year lifespan. The owners opted for a soft green shade, complementing the natural surroundings, but Cedral is available in various colours and features a wood-grain texture for added appeal.
Aluminium Bi-Fold Doors
For easy indoor-outdoor flow, the main room features aluminium bi-fold doors that open fully onto the garden. These doors are fitted with magnetic blinds, offering the flexibility to control light levels and privacy within the room.
Velux Roof Window
A remote-controlled Velux roof window brings abundant light into the room, with rain sensors to ensure it closes automatically at the first sign of rain—a convenient addition that helps keep the room comfortable in all weather.
Heating and Cooling System
For year-round temperature control, a Daikin air conditioning unit was installed, providing both heating and cooling options. The system connects to a smartphone app for remote operation and includes motion sensors that automatically power down the unit when the room is empty, helping save energy.
Cloakroom for Added Convenience and Future Flexibility
The addition of a cloakroom boosts the garden room’s functionality, making it suitable for a range of uses now and in the future. Unlike some companies that provide only a shell for cloakrooms, Executive Garden Rooms completes the project fully, with all plumbing and fittings ready to use. This turnkey approach means you’ll have a fully functional cloakroom upon project completion, with all work signed off by the local Building Control department.
Client Feedback
The owners of this garden room shared their satisfaction with the build process and the quality of work delivered by Executive Garden Rooms:
Excellent service, the build ran seamlessly. Build quality excellent. I now have my very own gym. John and Gavin were a delight, very respectful and very hardworking. Alison in the office tirelessly project managed and liaised with us brilliantly. John came round after the project was over to put up a blind and fix my TV to the wall. I would definitely recommend this company.” – K Read
