Bespoke garden room specialists like Timber Rooms collaborate closely with clients to create unique, high-spec designs. For example, Timber Rooms completed a garden office with a discreet bike store for homeowners seeking a low-maintenance yet high-quality solution.
This project demonstrates how materials and design features can be tailored to meet specific needs, resulting in a stylish and functional space.
A Dual-Purpose Building
The 5.3m x 3.5m garden building was designed with two separate rooms, each featuring its own external entrance. This division allows the building to serve dual purposes—a sophisticated home office and a practical bike storage area.
Low Maintenance External Finishes
The exterior of the garden room is clad in contemporary dark grey composite wood. Composite cladding is a popular choice for modern garden rooms due to its durability and ease of maintenance. The pre-coloured boards ensure the building retains its sleek appearance without the need for painting or frequent upkeep.
This composite finish is paired with dark grey uPVC doors and windows, customised to suit the client's preferences. A large casement window was installed above one desk, while a stunning floor-to-ceiling glazed corner—incorporating an office entrance—was created to frame another desk area. This thoughtful configuration maximises natural light while enhancing the building’s contemporary aesthetic.
High-Spec Interior Features
Inside, the garden office boasts premium finishes. The plastered and decorated walls and ceiling complement the wood flooring, under which underfloor heating has been installed. Underfloor heating is a smart choice in compact spaces, offering consistent warmth while freeing up wall space for furniture and storage.
The overall design achieves a light, modern, and inviting atmosphere, perfect for productivity.
Secret Bike Store
Behind the office lies a cleverly integrated 1.5m x 3.5m bike store. In contrast to the office’s high-end finish, this space prioritises practicality, with robust finishes tailored for durability. Shelving and racks were installed to provide organised storage for bicycles and other equipment, ensuring the space is both functional and discreet.
